About the Event

Dr Sophie Ratcliffe will be at The Last Bookshop on the 13th March from 5.30 to 7pm discussing her recent memoir-novel, 'The Lost Properties of Love'.

"In this book Ratcliffe, an Oxford English don, tries ... to produce a text so capacious that all the lost things of her life, of all our lives, can finally find their proper place."

Sophie is Associate Professor of 19th and 20th Century Literature at Lady Margaret Hall. Drawing together the strands of her life, blighted by a youthful tragedy, Sophie's latest book attempts to make sense of a life through the fiction she teaches.

The event will begin at 5:30. Drinks are provided and Sophie's paperback will be available for purchase. There will be a brief speech at 6.30 and the shop will close at its regularly appointed time. We hope to see you there!
